“Due to the sudden and tragic passing away of H.E. Pilar Fuertes Ferragut, Ambassador of Spain, please be advised that all cultural activities of the Embassy of Spain have been cancelled until further notice.”

The embassy was yesterday closed and several programmes including the book reading session, a film festival and women’s programme all run by the embassy’s cultural department were cancelled due to the death of the ambassador.

Condolence messages were pouring in as news of her death became public.

Artist Hope Masike said, “What a loss! She was one of the most stylish diplomats I knew here in Zim; always well dressed. She was really supportive of Zim arts. It’s a terrible, unexpected and untimely loss. May her soul rest in peace.”
