Sunday Mail Editor Granted Stringent Bail

Harare, July 3, 2014-Arrested Sunday Mail editor Edmund Kudzayi has been granted bail at the High Court.

Justice Joseph Musakwa granted Kudzayi US$5 200 bail after the prosecutor Tawanda Zvekare had consented.

Musakwa ordered Kudzayi to reside at Number 65 Brooks Drive Hillside in Harare and to surrender title deeds to the same property.

He was additionally ordered at the state’s instance to report twice daily at CID Law and Order, and to surrender the password to his Gmail account.

Kudzayi will be restricted to travel within a 40km radius from the main post office and is barred from interfering with witnesses and evidence.

Meanwhile, his brother Phillip Tawanda is appearing at the High Court on Friday seeking bail.

Edmund Kudzayi faces charges of attempting to overthrow a constitutionally elected government using a page through the Facebook character Baba Jukwa.
