Suspect In Dewani Case Disappears

State witness Zola Tongo, who was jailed for his role in the murder of Anni Dewani implicated Monde Mbolombo, 31, along with Anni’s husband, Shrien Dewani, and two “hijackers” Xolile Mngeni, 23, and Mzwamadoda Qwabe, 26.Unconfirmed reports stated that Mbolombo, who was from Khayelitsha – and who during the assassination had telephone contact with Tongo – had a criminal record.

He worked as a reception clerk at the Protea Colosseum Hotel in Century City but disappeared without a trace after the murder.Hotel spokesperson Rachel Irvine said Mbolombo’s contract ended on November 30.Sources said Mbolombo had made a statement to police and would perhaps become a state witness.Mbolombo’s last entry on Facebook, “Amakhosi 4 life” was on December 4.Since his name was made public in court on Tuesday, his Facebook friends dropped to 33 from 48.
