…barely a week after scooping a top ZAS award

The Honde Valley community has been plunged into mourning following the death of a small holder farmer who scooped this year’s Zimbbwe Agricultural Society‘s (ZAS) ‘Overall Small Holder Farmer of the Year’.
The farmer, Alderman Matingo had made the community proud for bagging the ZAS ‘Small Holder Farmer of the Year’ inspiring a lot of other small scale farmers in the area.
It is reported Matingo collapsed and died while at home, shocking many who were still sending profound messages on his innovations that earned him the prestigious prize.
Details to ascertain the cause of his death were still sketchy.
Condolences were still pouring in from a lot of people in Honde Valley who expressed their shock on the untimely death of the ‘innovative farmer’.
“It’s sad that Mr Matingo who had made us proud at the agricultural show is no more, ”said Apostle Victoria Samushonga.
A young enterprising banana farmer in the area,Bright Nezomba said he was devastated by the death of Mr Matingo as he had so much to learn from him.
“Mr Matingo has left us poorer in terms of knowledge on how best to grow our small scale farming.
“We were looking up to him for his vast wealth of knowledge and I am in grief,” said Nezomba.
The farmer was also a Zanu PF councillor in the Mutasa North constituency for the past 22 years.
“He was a hardworking man who was so innovative and well respected by the community.
“This is why he was a councillor for the past 22 years, it’s a big loss for the community,” revealed Margret Kututwa.
The legislator for the area, Chido Madiwa-Tsinakwadi was at loss of words following the untimely death of this year’s small holder farmer of the year.
