Top Zanu (PF) Member Dies

Masawi (61), a politburo member died of cancer at the Avenues Clinic at around 9 am, Zanu (PF) political commissar Webster Shamu has confirmed.
Shamu said burial arrangements were being made but mourners were gathered at Masawi’s Pasangano Farm.
The former Mashonaland Central governor had been keeping a low profile since his replacement as deputy Zanu PF spokesman by Bulawayo governor Cain Mathema at the party’s congress last December.
Speculation was rife that he fell out with President Robert after he was seen at the launch of Edgar Tekere’s book last year.
In his book, “A Lifetime of a Struggle” – Tekere speaks disparagingly about President Mugabe’s participation in the liberation struggle.
He claimed that Mugabe does not know how to handle an AK 47 and that he was an opportunist.
