He was 62.
According to one of the directors of Masvingo United, Cornelius “Cargo’ Tavaruva their coach Nyabeze collapsed conducting a training session on Friday morning.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at a Masvingo hospital.
Nyabeze shot to fame in the early 1970s as a right winger for one of the best teams to come out of Mashonaland West, Mangula United.
He coached CAPS United among some of the most high profile teams.
He later moved to Bata Power in the early eighties. He coached the side which was then in the Premier Soccer League before moving to join Chapungu then Air Force of Zimbabwe in 1985. This is the same year that he married Idah Nyabeze the headmistress of the popular Cecil John Rhodes Primary School in Gweru.
The couple divorced after five years.
He was attested into the Air Force of Zimabwe as Flight Lieteutants until his retirement in 1998.
He later moved to Botswana Meat Commission in 2005.
Nyabeze joined Masvingo United in 2007 until the time of his death.
He is expected to be buried in Gweru on Sunday. He is survived by two children from his previous marriage.
