Harare, September 17, 2016 – PREMIERSHIP minnows Tsholotsho on Saturday produced the biggest upset of the 2016 Chibuku Super Cup first round matches after beating highly rated Harare side, Caps United 5-4 on penalties.
Tsholotsho was first to score in the first half but overlapping leftback Ronald Pfumbidzai equalised for the Lloyd Mutasa coached outfit in the 76th minute to level the scores.
Then came the dreaded penalty shootout which saw Makepekepe lose out by 4-5.
At Mandava in Zvishavane, log leaders Platinum FC continued with their fine performance, beating visiting Chapungu by 2 goals to nil.
Goals came through a penalty kick which was converted by Mhango on the stroke of half time before Charles Sibanda sealed a nightmarish outing for the airmen in the 82nd minute.
At Baobab Stadium, another platinum mining side Ngezi Platinum beat Hwange by 3 goals to 1 to emerge victorious in the battle of the miners.
In Kariba, Sunday Chidzambwa’s ZPC Kariba powered to a 1 nil defeat of Bulawayo city to progress to the quarter final stage of the lucrative competition.
A day before, defending champions Harare City dismissed log anchors Border Strikers by 4 goal to nil.
Still to play this Sunday are Dynamos against Bulawayo side How Mine while Highlanders will also be hoping for victory against Mutare City at Barbourfields Stadium.
Sugar producers, Triangle will be hoping for a sweet victory against Chicken In at Gibbo while Baobab Stadium.
