Tsvangirai Engages, Ex-lover Suffers Miscarriage

Tsvangirai engaged a Harare boutique owner Elizabeth Macheka at the weekend.

Informed sources told Radio VOP that Locadia suffered a miscarriage almost two weeks ago while in South Africa due to stress.

Tembo had been pregnant with reports claiming that she had been carrying the Movement for Democratic Change leader’s twins.

Informed sources said Tsvangirai dispatched his trusted lieutenant and uncle, Innocent Zvaipa to South Africa to help assist Locadia during the unfortunate incident. Zvaipa, the sources said assisted with consenting to and signing some papers authorising the cremation of the “baby” on behalf of Tsvangirai.

Consent for cremation had to be sought first before Locadia left the hospital and let the hospital cremate the “baby’s” remains.

Locadia eloped to the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader’s rural home in Buhera late last year claiming she was pregnant.

Last year Tsvangirai sent an entourage to the Karimatsenga family home to pay money that her family claimed was lobola. But the former trade union leader, who lost his wife Susan in a road accident in 2009, denied marrying Locadia and maintained that the money paid by his emissaries was for damages for impregnating the businesswoman.

On Friday, Tsvangirai engaged his new lover Elizabeth Macheka at a private function held in Harare.

“In his last public statement about his love life, the PM pledged to inform the nation when the time comes for him to settle down with a new wife,” Luke Tamborinyoka, the premier’s spokesperson said.

Tsvangirai’s engagement ceremony was attended by members of the Tsvangirai and Macheka families, relatives, friends and senior officials from his MDC party as well as officials from the Prime Minister’s office.

Elizabeth is the daughter of former Chitungwiza Mayor Joseph Macheka, a Zanu (PF) central committee member.

The engagement has been met with mixed reactions from Zimbabweans especially at a time when Zanu (PF) has faced accusations of human rights violations and political violence and murder of MDC supporters.
