Tsvangirai's aide nabbed

Rights group Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) said in a statement that although charges against Komichi, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) deputy organizing secretary were not yet known. However, it is suspected that the arrest is linked to a case in which he allegedly made reference to the impounding of MDC vehicles.

A fortnight ago a Detective Chakaona instructed the non-constituency Senator to report to Lupane police station where he wanted to interview him in connection with a case in which Komichi allegedly claimed that the Police Officer Commanding Matabeleland North Senior Assistant Commissioner Edmore Veterai had confiscated these vehicles to further Zanu PF interests.

The vehicles, which belong to MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai were impounded in 2008 by the police and have been reported to be used by Zanu PF in the area.
