Vox Media To Meet Information Parliamentary Committee

The committee invited VOX media Productions to share its views on May 10.

Last year Vox Media Productions applied for a broadcasting licence as VOP FM, but its application was unsuccessful. Its urgent application to challenge the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe’s (BAZ) decision to deny it a licence was dismissed early this month. The application by Vox Media had sought to block the ZimPapers Talk Radio and AB Communications’ which were awarded radio licences from starting operations pending the hearing of its case.

The Administrative Court dismissed Vox Media Productions’ urgent chamber application saying it had no jurisdiction over the case despite it being the court of appeal for broadcasting licences as enshrined in the Broadcasting Services Act.

Meanwhile ZimPapers Talk Radio this week announced the appointment of Admire Taderera and Tichafa Matambanadzo as its station’s General Manager and Programmes manager respectively despite the pending Vox Media’s court case.

Legal experts have since warned that  the dismissal  of  Vox Media ‘s urgent chamber application was   likely to bring more problems to BAZ as it would  be difficult for it to issue out new broadcasting licenses and conduct some more public  hearings  until Vox Media’s case is heard.
