The revolutionary party Zanu PF has set its sights on retaining the Norton parliamentary seat in the pending by-election after holding successful and peaceful primary elections on Saturday.
The by-election is scheduled for the 22nd of October this year.
Voting was conducted in a peaceful environment with hundreds of the party members from the constituency casting their votes.
All the 18 polling stations were opened as early as 8 am and closed mid afternoon.
Zanu PF Harare province chairperson Charles Tawengwa expressed satisfaction in the manner in which the party conducted the primary elections and urged the members to rally behind the selected candidate.
Mashonaland West provincial leadership hailed the massive turnout and is upbeat of resounding victory in the forthcoming by-election.
The parliamentary seat fell vacant following the expulsion of Christopher Mutsvangwa from the party and parliament.
