Mashingaizde was arrested in the Harare city centre and taken to Harare Central Police station where he had a statement recorded before he was released.
Mashingaidze is facing charges of criminally defaming former Zifa Chief Executive Officer Henrietta Rushwaya who at the moment is out of the country on business.
Mashingaidze is alleged to have on July 12 issued a statement alleging that Rushwaya along with two members of the Zimbabwe national soccer team Knowledge Musona and Ovidy Karuru were involved in fixing two of the Warriors 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Guinea and Mozambique.
Mashingaidze said the three met at Rushwaya’s Harare offices after the matches, an accusation which Rushwaya and both the players have denied.
The Warriors lost 1-0 to the National Elephants at the National Sports Stadium and played a goalless draw against the Mambas a week later.
Harare provincial spokesperson, inspector James Sabau, confirmed that Mashingaidze had been arrested and released and added that as soon as investigation are completed the Zifa boss would be called back for court proceedings.
On his part, Musona has announced that he has quit the national soccer team and will only come back once there has been a public apology from the Zimbabwe Football Association.
