Four detectives from the Law and Order Section at Harare Central Police Station picked up Hon. Mangoma, who is the Movement for Democratic Change deputy treasurer at his Chaminuka offices in Harare around 15:00hrs.
Mangoma told Radio VOP by telephone as the police drove him to Harare Central Police Station that the detectives alleged that he had insulted Mugabe in Bindura almost five months ago. He however could not give details of the offensive statements that he made.
Mangoma’s arrest is the third one in less than two years. Last year police twice arrested Mangoma for allegedly abusing public office by favouring foreign companies in the procurement of fuel and the awarding of tenders to procure some electricity meter readers.
