Zim Police Deploy Water Cannons Ahead of Anti-Govt Protest

Harare, July 31, 2014 – Zimbabwean police on Thursday deployed water
cannon trucks in central Harare in bid to suppress an anti-government
protest organised by opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T
party.
Tsvangirai’s MDC-T party supporters have planned to stage a
demonstration in Harare to protest against President Robert Mugabe’s
ZANU PF government’s failure to create millions of jobs it promised to
generate during the run up to last year’s sham general elections which
Mugabe’s party won amid several irregularities.
A confrontation is likely to ensue between the police and the MDC-T supporters.
