Zim Soccer Players Earning Peanuts – Mandigora

In an exclusive interview with Radio VOP in Harare, Mandigora, said: “I am now coaching in Mozambique and I can tell you that the players over there earn lots of money.

“Even junior players earn much more than Zimbabwean so-called stars. I have already bought myself a flat (apartment) and a motor vehicle despite having worked for less than two years at Costa Da Sol Football Club in Maputo.”

Mandigora was Soccer Star of The Year in 1980.He had stints as Zimbabwe National Warriors Coach as well as with his former team, Dynamos Football Club (DeMbare) in Harare. He was fired from both the Zimbabwe Warriors and Dynamos for alleged poor results as coach.

“I do not want to boast about it but the players here earn nothing,” Mandigora clad in a navy blue suit, told Radio VOP.

“At Costa Da Sol we never have our salaries paid late. We get money for housing, fuel as well as for food when we are travelling. In fact when we travel we fly in a country which is said to be very poor. Zimbabweans laugh at Mozambicans but I can tell you that their soccer players earn more than here.”

“The players in Mozambique enjoy thmselves very much,” he said. “In Zimbabwe the players are much disciplined but earn nothing.”
