“We are in constant touch with our ambassador in Libya. We have contingency plans to evacuate the Zimbabweans in Libya just like we did with some of our citizens in Egypt,” Bimha told Radio VOP on Wednesday.
“For the moment, our ambassador has told us the situation in Tripoli is quiet and we are keeping in constant touch
with him but we have got arrangements in place to say once it becomes necessary to evacuate them we will do that.”
Bimha said there were few Zimbabweans living in the strife torn North African country and said that the rescue operation shall centre on non-essential embassy staff.
He, however said Zimbabwe will not condemn Libyan President Murmur Gaddafi yet because it had no enough information of what is happening in Libya. He said Zimbabwe would not depend on media reports.
“We would not want to form an opinion on something that we do not have enough information on.”
