The Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) has announced nominees for the 2014 edition that will be held on the 3rd of October at the Harare International Conference Centre.
Artists who have submitted their works for consideration have been nominated for music awards in 23 categories.
Adjudicators considered work which was released between the 7th of August 2012 and the 4th of August 2014 since the awards had not been held for the past seven years.
Man of the moment, Jah Prayzah received the highest number of nominations at four, featuring in the Best Traditional Music category for two of his songs, Tsviriyo and Kumbura Mhute.
He was also nominated for the Best Male Artist and Album of the Year for Tsviriyo.
Dancehall artist, Soul Jah Luv follows closely with three nominations.
In a statement, ZIMA said some genre categories did not get enough entries and therefore could not be adjudicated.
One of these categories is Tshibilika, which recorded only 2 entries, forcing the adjudication panel to move entries to the Sungura category since Tshibilika has some technical similarities to Sungura.
ZIMA also introduced a special accolade for individuals with outstanding contribution to the music industry.
The recipient of this award is determined by the ZIMA chairman and this year the accolade will be given to Dickson Chingaira aka Cde Chinx for his achievements in the music industry.
