Zimbabwe names ICC Twenty 20 World Cup squad

There were no major surprises in the squad except for the omission of all-rounder Shingi Masakadza who was expected to make the final 15.

Head of the selection panel said that while it was a tough decision to leave out Masakadza it was more difficult to leave out the pair of Richard Muzhange and Brian Vitori whom he was competing with.

“It was a tough decision but after considering form and recent statistics we had to go with Vitori and Muzhange, said Makoni. “Masakadza has got a bit more experience but these two have been in fine form of late.”

Muzhange only made his senior debut when Zimbabwe triumphed in a T-20 triangular series against both South Africa and Bangladesh recently.

Captain Brendan Taylor will lead the squad.
