The senior national team was ranked 113 on the global rankings last month but slipped 13 places down the global rankings. It also dropped in continental rankings from position 28 to 34.
Zimbabwe’s latest world ranking of 127 in the team’s worst since Fifa/Coca Cola World rankings started in March 1993. The team were ranked 46 in the world. The country started dropping on the world rankings in 2007 when they fell from position 76 to 87 due to playing fixed matches in Asia. Since then the team has been on free fall on the world rankings in the hundred plus rankings since 2009.
Zimbabwe’s best world ranking was in April 1995 when they were ranked 40. The fall on the world rankings has also been worsened by the fact that the team has not been in any A class international matches. The Warriors last played in the African Nations Champions in Sudan which is however not recognised by Fifa.
